VERMILLION, S.D. – The South Dakota Coyotes women's tennis team was selected seventh in the 2026 Summit League Women's Tennis Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by league officials Wednesday.
South Dakota totaled eight points in the poll, which is voted on by the league's head coaches. Denver was picked as the preseason favorite, earning six of seven first-place votes and 36 total points. Omaha (28 points) and North Dakota (26 points) rounded out the top three, followed by Kansas City, St. Thomas and Oral Roberts.
Highlighting the preseason recognition for the Coyotes, senior Selena Bird was named to the Summit League Women's Tennis Preseason Athletes to Watch list, as selected by the league's head coaches.
With Bird's leadership and a returning core, South Dakota looks to exceed its preseason ranking and compete for a higher spot in the Summit League standings.
