Willis earns first Summit League weekly honor of season, second of career

01.27.2026

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota track and field claimed the Kwik Star Summit League Women's Indoor Field Peak Performer of the Week honor for the second straight week, as sophomore Anna Willis earned the honor after a strong performance over the weekend.

Willis, a sophomore from Colorado Springs, Colo., earned her second weekly indoor honor of her career and first of this season. Her lone other weekly honor was almost a year ago to the date, winning the award on January 28, 2025 after a strong showing at the Mark Colligan Memorial last season.

This year, Willis earns the honor after sharing second place (top collegiate finisher) in the women's pole vault at the Jim Emmerich Alumni Meet in Brookings Saturday. Willis, along with teammate Marleen Mülla (last week's Field Peak Performer), cleared 14-1 ¼ at the meet, good for the top spot in the Summit League and 10th in the NCAA this season.

Willis, who earned all-American honors outdoor last season as a freshman, will look to build on her strong start to her sophomore year as the Coyotes head to the Dr. Rich McGuire Invite in Columbia, Mo. this weekend.
