Nick Rounds was named the Summit League's Peak Performer of the week for the third time this season after his performance at South Dakota's dual meet with St. Thomas.
Day one of the meet was all relays, and Rounds competed in three. He started with a second place finish in the 200 mixed medley with teammates
Ethan LaBounty,
Lauren Eschmeyer, and
Henley Hatzung. Rounds started the relay with a 22.36 50 yard backstroke split and the team finished in 1:37.92.
He later competed in the 1000 IM relay with
Alex Parkinson,
Brock Russell, and
Joaquin Contreras-Fallico. The team came in first with a time of 10:01.60. To finish the day, Rounds,
James Schreiber,
David Mayer, and Parkinson competed in the 4x50x4 free relay and took first place in 5:57.90.
Day two returned to more traditional events for the scored part of the meet where Rounds was the Coyote's top point earner. He was a perfect three for three in his two individual events and his relay. Rounds, LaBounty,
Dylan Alt, and Schreiber started the day with a win in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:31.41. Rounds had a 50 back split of 22.43 to lead them off.
Rounds later went on to win the 200 free in 1:43.40 and the 50 fly in 22.06.
His 18 points earned helped push South Dakota to a 165-135 win over the Tommies.
Rounds and the Yotes will return Friday, January 23 when they travel to Omaha, Neb. to compete in a dual with the Mavericks of UNO.
