FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. –
Marleen Mülla and
Anna Willis represented South Dakota track and field at the NCAA Indoor Championships Saturday, placing second and third respectively in the women's pole vault at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville.
Mülla earned her sixth all-American honor of her career with a runner-up finish Saturday. She cleared 15-1 ½ (4.61m) to take solo second at the meet. The runner-up finish is the best finish of her career, with her previous best being third at the 2023 indoor meet.
Mülla earned her fourth indoor all-American honor, going 4-for-4 in her indoor collegiate career. Her six all-American honors tie her for the most by a Coyote women at the Division I level (Emily Grove, Helen Falda,
Gen Hirata).
Willis earned her second all-American honor of her young career with a third-place finish Saturday, clearing 14-11 ½ (4.56m). This is her first indoor all-American honor in her first appearance at the Indoor Championships. The third place finish is one spot better than her fourth place at the outdoor meet last June.
Willis and Mülla are the first Coyote teammates to place inside the top three at the same NCAA Championship meet at the Division I level. The duo combined for 14 points at the Indoor Championships, giving USD a tied for 15
th finish in the team standings. That placing is the second-best team finish at the Division I level in program history (tied for 10
th at 2013-14 Indoor).
