Coyote Report for 2026-27 Returns on Monday

VERMILLION, S.D. — With the return of athletics at the University of South Dakota for the 2026-27 school year, so to returns the weekly coaches show the Coyote Report with the voice of the Coyotes John Thayer.  
 
The weekly coaches show for football, men's and women's basketball, and volleyball returns next week on Monday, August 24 with head football coach Matt Vitzthum and head volleyball coach Leanne Williamson. The first show will be on the OLC roof top (weather permitting).
 
The show returns live from Old Lumber Company (OLC) in downtown Vermillion on Monday nights beginning at 6 p.m. (CT) with fans and the community encouraged to attend in-person from OLC. The show will also air live on the Coyote Sports Network on KVHT 106.3 in Vermillion and Yankton, on GoYotes.com, the Varsity Network app, and livestreamed to Facebook (South Dakota Coyotes main page).
 
Beginning with the show on August 31, student-athletes will return for a segment with their respective head coach to talk about the season, their experience as a Coyote student-athlete, and more! Stay tuned to the main South Dakota Coyotes social channels (X and Facebook) every Monday to see the student-athlete joining the show that night.
 
Football opens their season next Saturday, August 29 when they play host to reigning NEC Champions Central Connecticut State, a program that has reached the FCS Playoffs the last two seasons (2024-25). Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. inside the DakotaDome on August 29.
 
Following a pair of preseason exhibitions, the Coyote volleyball team returns to action to officially kickoff the 2026 season with a trip to Des Moines, Iowa for the Drake Tournament set for August 28-30 inside the Knapp Center. The Coyotes will square off against Drake (Aug. 28), Milwaukee (Aug. 29), and DePaul (Aug. 30).
