Maya Ristic of the South Dakota women's tennis team won her first round singles match at the North Central Conference Tennis Championships being held at the Gold's Gym in Sartell, Minn.
Ristic improved her season mark to 12-6 with the 5-7, 6-3, 10-8 win at No. 1 singles over Kate Maland of Minnesota State-Mankato. Ristic's win was the only one by the USD Tennis Team in the opening round. The second round and consolation play is continuing tonight and the remainder of the NCC meet will conclude on Saturday.

No. 1 Singles: Maya Ristic of Vermillion, S.D., USD, over Kate Maland, Minnesota State, Mankato, 5-7, 6-3, 10-8. Ristic will face Katie Schmidt of UNO in the second round.
No. 2 Singles: Kara Shildum, Minnesota-Duluth, over Michelle Hogan (Rapid City, S.D.), USD, 6-1, 6-2.
No. 3 Singles: Katie Bohl of Augustana over Rachel Kludt (Huron, S.D.), USD, 6-1, 0-6, 10-7.
No. 4 Singles: Mallory Larsen of Augustana over Catherine Stoos (Jefferson, S.D.), USD, 6-4, 6-0.
No. 5 Singles: Lindsey Schmidt, MSU, Mankato, over Brittany Johnson (Rapid City, S.D.), 6-3, 6-4.
No. 6 Singles: Molly Erdmann, MSU, Mankato, over Betsy Kasuske (Milbank, S.D.), 6-0, 6-0.
No. 1 Doubles : Jenni Mihulka/Jenny Cartwright, North Dakota, over Ristic/Kludt, 8-1.
