AMES, Iowa - The South Dakota women's track team, with strong showings from several individuals, earned an impressive third-place finish at the Iowa State Bill Bergan Invitational Saturday in Ames, Iowa. The Coyote men were led by senior

Kyle McKelvey at the meet.
The Coyote women finished the event with 44 points -- ahead of Big 12 schools Iowa State and Missouri and Summit League rivals North Dakota State and South Dakota State.
Several individuals contributed for the Coyote women. Freshman Emily Grove (Pontiac, Ill.) continued her early-season success in the pole vault, winning the pole vault with a height of 4.10 (13-5 1/2). It is the second win in three meets for Grove.
Freshman Analisa Huschle (Bagley, Minn.) placed second in the 60-meter dash at 7.66 -- just .10 seconds away from the school indoor record -- which is the best time recorded in the Summit League this season. Junior Gabriel Williams (Sioux City, Iowa) was third at 7.76.
Junior Alexa Duling (Gregory, S.D.) was third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.21 -- the top time in the Summit League this season. She was sixth in the 60-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 8.78, third-best time in the Summit League this season.
Senior Emma Ladwig (Gayville, S.D.) was second in the 800-meter run with a season-best of 2:09.58, which is also the top time in the Summit League this year.
Senior Kenna Wolter (Santa Maria, Calif.) also had a strong day, taking second in the triple jump with an effort of 39-3 -- second-best in the Summit League this year. She was third in the long jump at 17-7 1/2 -- sixth-best in the Summit League this season.
The Coyote men had several individuals with solid performances. Senior Jeremy Blount (Tampa, Fla.) was fourth in the 60 meters at 6.94, tying a season-best and tying a time that is third-best in the Summit League this season.
Freshman Kyle McKelvey (Beresford, S.D.) was fourth in the shot put at 55-5 (16.89 meters) -- the second-best mark in the Summit League this year and just six inches away from a personal best. Sophomore Cody Snyder (Lake Andes, S.D.) was fifth at 53-10 1/2, second-best mark in the Summit League this season. The throw was also a season-best for Snyder.
Senior Jared Clement (Le Mars, Iowa) was sixth in the 200 meters at 22.32, while taking seventh in the 60 meters at 7.07.
Junior Casey Shade (Hartford, S.D.) was fifth in the 800-meter run at 1:51.13, second-best time in the Summit League this year. Kyle Ballew added a fifth-place finish in the pole vault at 15-11 (4.85 meters).
South Dakota plays host to the Bill Hillenbrand Invitational on Thursday before heading to the Frank Sevigne Invite in Lincoln, Neb. on Feb. 3-4.
