The GameTonight completes a four-game road trip for South Dakota that included stops in Milwaukee, Wis., Champaign, Ill., and Las Vegas. Tonight is also the final non-conference game before Summit League play begins on New Year's Day. The Coyotes host IUPUI at 2:30 p.m. inside the DakotaDome Friday.
South Dakota and Florida Gulf Coast are both competing inside the Sanford Pentagon for the second consecutive season. The Coyotes lost 75-61 to UNLV in the venue a year ago while the Eagles downed South Dakota State 71-58. The Jacks returned the favor earlier this season when they beat FGCU 56-52 in Fort Myers back on Dec. 19. The Summit League is 4-1 against the Atlantic Sun this season. The Eagles are picked to finish second in that league to preseason favorite North Florida.

Neutral SiteSouth Dakota is 2-1 at neutral sites this season. The Coyotes split games against Wright State and CSUN in DeKalb, Ill., and beat Eastern Washington in Sacramento, Calif. The Coyotes have played at home in Vermillion just three times in 14 non-conference games to start the season. Only 18 teams (out of 351) have played fewer home games than the Coyotes.
Back in the W columnBoth South Dakota and Florida Gulf Coast enter tonight's contest trying to win for the first time in three games. The Eagles lost 66-63 at home to Louisiana Tech in their last outing on Dec. 22. The loss to SDSU came three days prior. After beating Milwaukee in double overtime to begin this road trip, the Coyotes have lost at Illinois and at UNLV.
Opening MinutesSouth Dakota has dug holes of 14-0 and 15-2 in its last two games. UNLV scored on nine of its first 10 possessions in last Tuesday's win in Las Vegas.
One Last NoteFlorida Gulf Coast leads the nation in defending the 3-pointer. The Eagles' opponents have made 58 of 245 attempts for 23.7 percent. South Dakota ranks 28th nationally in 3-point percentage, making 97 of 246 for 39.4 percent.
