Final Stats
SIOUX FALLS, S.D.-- Alice Scott and Yamini Reddy tallied 6-0, 6-0 victories as the South Dakota tennis team won its Summit League opener against Western Illinois 6-1 at the Woodlake Athletic Club on Friday.
Scott, who played in the No. 5 match, swept Adriana Johnson to move to 4-0 in dual play this season. Counting last fall's tournaments, the freshman from Wrexham, Wales, is now 5-2 at South Dakota (4-0, 1-0). Reddy swept Jamee Hale to tally her third win of the spring season in the No. 6 match.
Along with Scott, two more Coyotes moved to 4-0 in dual play this spring as USD won five of the six singles matches in the contest. Milica Pavlovic moved to 4-0 by topping Jenna Wallace 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 2 match, while Dragana Brankovic dropped Arianna Demos 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 3 match to move to 4-0 as well.
Yuliya Sidenko rounded out USD's singles wins by tallying her third win of the season, beating Nicole Jones 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 4 match.
The Coyotes also collected the doubles point by topping Western Illinois (0-7, 0-1) in two of those three contests. Brankovic and Pavlovic topped Courtney Lubbers and Wallace by a score of 8-1, while Reddy and Sidenko topped Johnson and Hale 8-1 as well.
South Dakota next plays a non-conference match at Emporia State (Kan.) on Feb. 27. They'll then take on league foe Oral Roberts on Feb. 28.
