Tennis falls 5-2 to Providence

March 10, 2015

Final Stats

ORLANDO, Fla. -- South Dakota's Yuliya Sidenko tallied wins in both singles and doubles play, but the South Dakota tennis team dropped the first match of its spring break trip on Tuesday, losing to Providence 5-2.

Sidenko swept Jenn DeLuca 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 3 spot to move to 6-0 in singles play this spring. She's the only Coyote with an unblemished singles record during the spring season. She teamed up with Milica Pavlovic to top DeLuca and Amanda Pitocco 8-6, but Providence (5-5) took the other two doubles matches to take the point.

Rymma Maslova added a point for USD (4-2) with a win at the No. 1 spot over Nicole Cyterski. Cyterski withdrew in the second set due to illness.

The Coyotes will play five matches in Orlando during their trip. They play Toledo on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.
