FORT COLLINS, Colo.—South Dakota sophomore Yuliya Sidenko tallied her first win at the No. 1 spot, but the Coyotes dropped their final match of the regular season, losing to Colorado State 5-2 Sunday at the Fort Collins Country Club.
Sidenko split a pair of sets 4-6, 6-4 with Colorado State's Natalie Heffron before winning the super tiebreaker 10-7 to take the point. Sidenko has a 15-2 record in singles play, improving from the No. 4 spot to No. 1 as the season progressed.
Senior Yamini Reddy defeated Maddie Buxton 6-3, 7-5 to score a second point at No. 5.
Colorado State (8-12) picked up the doubles point and had four single match wins.
South Dakota (7-10, 3-4 Summit) advances to the Summit League Championships, slated to begin on Friday in Fort Wayne, Ind. The seeding for the tournament has yet to be determined.
