SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—South Dakota rattled off five straight-set singles victories to defeat Omaha 5-2 on Thursday at Match Pointe in Sioux Falls, S.D. The win moved South Dakota (7-7, 3-2 Summit) into a tie for fourth place in the Summit League standings.
Omaha (5-3, 2-4) took a 1-0 lead headed into singles play by winning two of three doubles matches.
Coyote freshman Alice Scott got the ball rolling for the Coyotes when she tied the match 1-1. She had a quick 6-0, 6-1 victory at the No. 5 spot.
Sophomore Yuliya Sidenko scored 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 to improve her singles season record to 13-1. Sophomore Dragana Brankovic and senior Yamini Reddy added wins at the No. 4 and No. 6 spots, respectively. Earlier in the meet, the duo teamed up for an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles, their third win of the season.
The singles competition wrapped up with senior Rymma Maslova capturing a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 3.
South Dakota battles in-state rival South Dakota State on Saturday in Brookings, S.D., as a part of the South Dakota Showdown Series.
