The Series
South Dakota leads the all-time series 8-1. The Coyotes have won four straight against the Leathernecks. It was against Western Illinois that Raeshel Contreras nailed the game-winning 3-pointer in the 2014 Summit League Tournament opening round en route to qualifying for the NCAA Tournament.

The Game
Western Illinois is the final test in the first half of Summit League play. South Dakota's lone league loss came at Oral Roberts, one of two other teams tied with the Coyotes for first place in the standings. Oral Roberts' only league loss was to Western Illinois in Macomb back on New Year's Day. The Leathernecks are near split in the first half of games with losses to Omaha, IUPUI, and South Dakota State.

South Dakota and Western Illinois are two of the top outside shooting teams in the country. In fact, the Leathernecks are the only league team that makes (and shoots) more threes than the Coyotes. Entering league play, the Leathernecks were leading the nation for 3-point field goals made and attempts. Also expect a fast-paced game Wednesday night as both South Dakota (14th) and Western Illinois (25th) rank in the nation's top-25 for scoring offense. Both teams' quick pace and number of posessions gives up a lot of points on the other end.

The Coyotes are on a five-game winning streak while leading the Summit League in points per game (79.0), field-goal percentage (44.7 percent), rebounds (40.9 rpg), rebounding margin (8.5), assists (17.9 apg), and steals (10.5 spg). Senior guard Nicole Seekamp leads the Coyotes as the only player in the nation averaging 16 points, six assists, and three steals per game.

Climbing the Coyote Career Charts
Seekamp moved into second in points (1,786) and third in assists (511) on USD's all-time charts last week. She also ranks third in steals (234). She needs 22 assists or 15 steals to move to second in either category.

Senior center Margaret McCloud has also moved into the program's top-10 for rebounds and blocks. McCloud ranks ninth for rebounds (686) and ninth for blocks (67). She needs one block or two rebounds to tie for eighth in either category.

Senior guard Tia Hemiller ranks 14th for assists with 277. She needs 37 more this season to crack the top-10.

Only 11 players in program history have 1,000 points and 500 rebounds for their Coyote career. Seekamp is closing in on rebounds (442). Meanwhile, McCloud (950) and Hemiller (855) are closing in on points.

#MarchToTheSummit
South Dakota finished 2014-15 with a 13-3 Summit League record and regular season title. The Coyotes only dropped road contests to Oral Roberts, IUPUI, and South Dakota State. This season, the Coyotes are in a three-way tie with each team at the top holding a 6-1 league record.
