2016 Beach Invitational Results
LONG BEACH, Calif.—South Dakota senior
Teivaskie Lewin flew past the field to break a decade-old school record in the 110 hurdles Saturday at the Beach Invitational at Jack Rose Track.
Lewin clocked 13.59 seconds for the fourth-fastest time in the nation. His time surpassed Terry Liggins' best of 13.82 seconds from 2006. Lewin topped a field of 54 athletes at Long Beach.
Senior
Katie Wetzstein set another personal best, racing to a time of 2:09.97 for 800 meters. Wetzstein placed 18th in the field. Her time is two seconds off Emma (Erickson) Ladwig's school record of 2:07.26.
The top collegiate in the triple jump was junior
Ashley Thompson, who finished runner-up overall with a leap of 40-07 on her final jump. Sophomore
Colette Christensen was 24th with a mark of 37-09 ½.
Senior
Emily Grove placed sixth overall and was the second collegiate in the pole vault. Grove cleared the bar at 14-2, which ties her for seventh nationally. The mark ties her outdoor personal best from 2012. Competing unattached as a redshirt,
Hunter Wilkes was seventh at 14-2 as well. Junior
Emily Brigham was 12th after clearing 13-0 ¼ and redshirt-junior
Madison Mills was 18th at the same height.
Four Coyote men's vaulters cleared 16 feet on Saturday. Senior
Peter Chapman led the way in seventh with a mark of 16-6. Senior
Erik Jorgensen tied for 10th at 16-0, while freshman
Kaleb Ellis and
Jake David tied for 17th at 16-0 as well.
Sophomore
Shanice Cannigan took 15th in the 400 hurdles with a clocking of 1:01.35.
Long jump duo Brigham and senior
Analisa Huschle finished 15th and 16th, respectively. Brigham leaped 18-2 ½ and Huschle jumped 18-2 ¼.
Senior
Jeff O'Connell leaped 22-10 for 16th in the long jump.
Freshman
Karina Dufoe raced to a new career best in the 100 meters by clocking 12.16 seconds for 23rd place.

WALNUT, Calif.—South Dakota senior
Teivaskie Lewin raced to seventh in the elite 110 hurdles at the Mt. SAC Relays Saturday at Falcon Stadium.
Lewin clocked 13.66 seconds for the hurdles, the second collegiate across the line. Lewin's time would have been a school record had he not broken it earlier in the day at the Long Beach Invitational.
