2016 Drake Relays Friday Results
DES MOINES, Iowa—South Dakota senior
Kyle McKelvey took third place in the shot put at the 107th annual Drake Relays Friday in Drake Stadium.
McKelvey threw the shot 59 feet, 6 ¾ inches for third. McKelvey's season-best 60-5 ¼ ranks 32nd nationally.
Qualifying for tomorrow's finals in their respective sprint events were senior
Teivaskie Lewin and sophomore
Gawain Williams. Lewin clocked the second-fastest qualifying time of 13.92 seconds in the 110 hurdles. Williams' heat of the 100 meters used a wind gust to push the top four runners to finals. Williams ran a personal best 10.38 seconds which ranks third on USD's all-time charts.
Sophomore
Shanice Cannigan improved her personal best in the 400 hurdles from last weekend. Cannigan crossed the finish line in 59.64 seconds for 12th place.
South Dakota's women's 4x800 relay of freshman
Liz Bohn, senior
Kati Nelson, freshman
Mallory Fine and sophomore
Lindsay Joyce capped off the night with a school record 9:03.65. The previous record was set in 2014.
Sophomore
Jake David tied for 10th in the pole vault after clearing 16-4 ¾.
The women's 4x200 relay, consisting of Cannigan, freshman
Karina Dufoe, sophomore
Brooke Ireland and senior
Analisa Huschle, took sixth in 1:39.53. The time is the third-fastest run by a group of Coyotes in program history.
The men's 4x200 relay was made up of a quartet of freshman with
Joe Reagan,
Mario Magana,
Brett Prenger and
Brennan Schmidt. The relay took eighth with a time of 1:26.55, the sixth-fastest in USD history.
