2016 Howard Wood Dakota Relays Results

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—South Dakota grabbed 10 more event titles Saturday for 14 total at the 91st Howard Wood Dakota Relays at Howard Wood Stadium. Senior Kyle McKelvey and sophomore Jake David also set Howard Wood Dakota Relays meet records in their respective events.
 
McKelvey bettered his own meet record with a throw of 60 feet, 9 ¼ inches in the shot put. The throw was also a season best for the Beresford, S.D., native. It moves McKelvey to 32nd in the nation.
 
David vaulted over a new personal best of 17-5 ½ to break the meet record. David moves to the top of the Summit charts and ties for 21st nationally in the pole vault.
 
The 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles were captured by sophomore Shanice Cannigan. Cannigan clocked a career best 14.19 seconds for 100 hurdles to move to second in The Summit League. She crossed the finish line in 59.85 seconds for the 400 hurdles.
 
Senior Analisa Huschle leaped 18-7 to win the long jump. Huschle also finished runner-up in the 100 meters in 11.98 seconds. Junior Ashley Thompson placed third in the long jump with a mark of 18-3.
 
With a leap of 21-11 ¾, senior Jeff O'Connell won the long jump. Freshman Joe Reagan finished runner-up in a pair of events including the long jump (21-5 ¼) and 100 meters (10.86).
 
Redshirt-junior Mach Dojiok captured the 1,500 meters in 3:55.62. He's one of seven runners in the Summit League to run 3:55 or faster this season.
 
Senior Riley Johnson took the discus in 141-7. Her season best of 145-9 ranks sixth on Summit charts this season.
 
Junior Jay Cooper placed third in the 400 hurdles with a time of 53.76 seconds.
 
The men's and women's 4x400-meter relays wrapped up competition with pair of victories. Cannigan, Huschle, freshman Analisse Williams and sophomore Brooke Ireland teamed up for a season-best 3:44.28 on the women's side. Freshman Mario Magana, O'Connell, freshman Alex Borchers and freshman Brennan Schmidt won in 3:17.17.
 
Howard Wood wrapped up regular season competition for the Coyotes. South Dakota hosts the 2016 Summit League Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Lillibridge Track Complex from May 12-14.
