VERMILLION, S.D. — South Dakota basketball fans will have their first chance to see the Coyotes in action on Thursday, Nov. 2, with the inaugural Coyote Hoops Madness in the Sanford Coyote Sports Center. The event is free to attend and begins at 7 p.m.
 
Aside from introducing the teams, the event will feature a dunk contest sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings, 3-point shooting contest, scrimmages and a variety of contests for fans. One lucky fan will even take a $10,000 shot presented by First Premier Bank and the official debit Mastercard^® of the Coyotes.
 
Also featured will be the ZOOperstars! presented by First Premier Bank. Consistently ranked among the "Best Basketball Halftime Acts," the ZOOperstars! have become a staple at arenas around the country, featuring inflatable characters with clever names, such as Shaquille O'Seal, LeBronco James, Dick Flytale and Yao Flamingo.
 
The South Dakota men open their season Nov. 4 with an exhibition against Sioux Falls before opening the regular season Nov. 11 against Mayville State inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center. The Coyote women open the season at Iowa State on Nov. 10 and make their home debut Nov. 14 with Creighton.
