Amber Eichkorn placed eighth in the 5,000 meters while junior
Lindsay Joyce and sophomore
Jacob Simmons captured the "B" sections of the 1500-meter run to highlight the Coyotes in action Thursday at the 90th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Eichkorn crossed the finish line in 17 minutes, 3.06 seconds, for eighth in a 5,000-meter field of Big 12, Big Ten and SEC athletes. Her splits ranged from 77 seconds on the first and final laps to 87 seconds mid-race. Sophomore
Megan Billington finished 12th with a time of 17:06.14. Billington clocked between 80 and 85 seconds a lap before closing in 76 seconds. The time is an outdoor best for Billington and the fifth-best time in program history.
Joyce dropped her personal best by two seconds in clocking 4:31.79 to capture the B section of the 1,500 meters. Joyce moved up gradually throughout the race and took the lead with a blistering final lap of 69 seconds. Freshman
Julia Noah took fifth in the race with a time of 4:34.96.
Simmons clocked 3:56.47, just a second off his personal best from two weeks ago, to take the 1,500-meter B section. Simmons remained in the middle of the pack until the final lap when dropping a split of 58 seconds to win.
Junior
Ethan Fenchel launched the hammer two feet past his personal best for 17th in 194-11.

Shanice Cannigan took 26th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.42. Senior
Jay Cooper clocked 53.79 seconds to finish 32nd in the 400-meter hurdles.
In the "B" section of the women's javelin, senior
Amelia Miller placed seventh with a throw of 141-10. Senior
Elizabeth Szymonski took 12th.
Freshman
Ethan Bray tied for eighth in the "B" section of the pole vault. Bray cleared 16-7 ¼.
The Coyotes continue action at 9 a.m. Friday at the Texas Relays.
