TORRANCE, Calif.–South Dakota junior
Lindsay Joyce won the open division of the women's 1,500 meters on Friday at the 59th Mt. SAC Relays held at Murdock Stadium.
Joyce crossed the finish line with a time of 4 minutes, 27.21 seconds, to top four sections of the race with 45 competitors. The Sioux City, Iowa, native dropped four seconds off her personal best and moved to second on USD's all-time charts. Only three Coyotes in school history have run under 4:30 for 1,500 meters.
Senior
Nicole Schmidt finished just off that mark and posted her own personal best in 4:30.60. Schmidt took fifth in the same field and moves to fourth on USD record books.
The duo join freshman
Julia Noah's mark from the Baldy Castillo Invite for three of the top-four times in the Summit League this season.
Sophomore
Jacob Simmons took 21st in the men's open division with a five-second personal best of 3:50.87. A native of Sturgis, S.D., Simmons cracks the USD all-time charts for the fifth spot in program history. The time also moves him to second in the Summit League standings this season.
The Coyotes wrap up California competition with the Beach Invitational in Long Beach, Calif., on Friday and Saturday.
