Makiah Hunt took eighth in the pole vault at the 19th Pan American U20 Track and Field Championships held at Chan Chan Athletic Stadium.
Representing Team Canada, Hunt cleared 11 feet, 9 ¾ inches, on her first attempt to finish eighth at the meet. A native of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Hunt won the Canadian U20 pole vault title earlier this month in Ottawa, Ontario, with a vault of 12-11 ½.
Hunt wrapped up her freshman campaign with a pair of top-six finishes in the pole vault at the Summit League Championships. After placing sixth indoors, Hunt vaulted a personal best 13-3 ¾ at the Summit League Outdoor Championships to take fourth. The height ranks sixth on USD's all-time charts. Hunt also qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary.
