Tranberg joins Coyote tennis for 2018-19 season

TN: Tranberg

VERMILLION, S.D.–South Dakota head tennis coach Brett Barnett is pleased to welcome Emma Tranberg to the Coyote program. Tranberg is making the transfer from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and will join the South Dakota tennis team ahead of the 2018-19 season.

"I am excited that Emma is transferring to USD to finish out her college career," Barnett said. "She is a great person, tennis player and student. We are lucky to have her join our program.

"I know she is someone who will work hard and is going to fit in well here. Her style of play fits in great, as she is a strong all-court player with the ability to move forward and finish points at the net. She's had great doubles results in Denmark and will strengthen both our singles and doubles lineups immediately."

The Copenhagen, Denmark, native went 3-0 in singles during the fall season and 1-0 in doubles for the Vaqueros. She was part of a UTRGV team that has concluded the regular season with seven-straight wins and clinched the Western Athletic Conference regular-season championship with a 5-0 record.

Before UTRGA, Tranberg helped her club team in Copenhagen to multiple finals appearances. She ranked No. 3 in the under 18 rankings and ranked No. 15 for all women in Denmark. In singles, she placed third at the Single Danish Championship in the under 18 category.

Tranberg has also won several tournaments at the highest level, including the Danish Championships in doubles. She earned the doubles champion title while competing with her twin sister and has a runner-up finish in mix doubles.

Tranberg will have three years of eligibility at South Dakota.
