SIOUX FALLS – South Dakota sophomore
Jana Lazarevic has been named the Summit League women's tennis athlete of the week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Lazarevic posted a pair of singles wins while also combining with
Luana Stanciu to go 2-0 in doubles play as the Coyotes registered team wins over Western Illinois (7-0) and Oral Roberts (6-1) this past weekend.
Lazarevic earned a 6-2, 6-0 win over Western Illinois' Mia Melnicki and defeated Oral Robert's Ceijenia Cornelius 6-1, 6-2. She currently holds a 5-6 record at No. 1 singles and has won four straight matches heading into Wednesday's non-conference match against Creighton.
Lazarevic and Stanciu had a 5-4 mark at No. 3 doubles and are coming off a 6-1 win over Western Illinois and a 6-3 win over Oral Roberts.
"Jana had a great weekend for us," said coach
Brett Barnett. "She played some really good tennis and won all of her matches pretty quick to put some points up on the board for us. She's been playing better and better as the season has went on and I expect her to finish strong."
The Coyotes are riding a six match win streak and are 7-7 heading into Wednesday's match with Creighton.
