VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota women's tennis coach Brett Barnett is pleased to announce the addition of Berta Girbau to the 2019-20 roster.
 
Girbau, who hails from Barcelona, Spain, will be a freshman in the fall.
 
"I am very excited to have Berta join our program," said Barnett. "She is great student and will represent USD and our tennis program at the highest level on and off the court. 
 
"It has been great getting to know her over the recruiting process and I know she will fit in great with everyone."
 
Girbau won a team championship with her club Cercle Sabadelles while she is a graduate of Institut Obert de Catalunya.
 
"Berta has a big forehand and loves to dictate play from the back of the court," added Barnett. "She is very athletic and is not afraid to step inside the court. We are getting a player that works very hard and is ready to step in and contribute immediately.
 
"I am very excited for her to arrive in Vermillion next month and start working to further develop her game."
