The Game
No. 21/18 South Dakota travels to Omaha to begin a three-game road trip on Wednesday night with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m. inside Baxter Arena.
The Coyotes
No. 21/18 South Dakota (19-2, 8-0 Summit) still holds a perfect record through the first half of league play. The Coyotes have defeated each Summit opponent by 20 or more points with South Dakota's average margin of victory being 35.5 points per game. South Dakota has been impressive on both sides of the floor as of late. The USD defense held four-straight foes to less than 50 points, beginning with the first meeting against Omaha. Getting stops on defense has directly correlated to offense with 23 points off turnovers on average during league play. The offense has been putting up 81 points per game to rank ninth nationally. USD sits third in the country for 3-point field goal percentage (40.7) and fifth overall (48.5).
The Mavericks
Omaha (6-14, 1-6 Summit) is coming off a Sunday 58-57 loss to Purdue Fort Wayne. The Mavericks have the third-best defense in the league at 66 points. Sophomore Mariah Murdie went on a tear following the Mavericks' last meeting with USD. She scored 16 and 20 points, respectively, in the next two games against Denver and Western Illinois. She passed Claire Killian as UNO's leading scorer this season, averaging a team-high 9.2 points, six boards and 1.2 blocks per game. Also playing well as of late has been freshman Ella Ogier. Ogier's averaged 19 points, eight boards and 6.5 assists in the last two games. She nearly recorded a triple-double against Western Illinois last week.
The Series
Wednesday will be the 83rd meeting between the former NCC foes. South Dakota leads the all-time series 47-35. The Coyotes have won five-straight over the Mavericks, including taking round one this season 77-44 back on Jan. 11 in Vermillion.
One Last Thing
Senior guard
Madison McKeever enters Wednesday's game eight points shy of 1,000 in her Coyote career. McKeever has played in all but one game during her time at USD.
Make That Two
USD head coach
Dawn Plitzuweit will also be going for her 100th Coyote victory on Wednesday. She could take home her 100th win in just 124 games, which would make her the fastest Summit League head coach to do so.
