Coyotes host Bobcats Tuesday

MBB: USD vs. Peru State

VERMILLION, S.D. -- The South Dakota men are back home to host its final nonconference game of the season when they face NAIA Peru State Tuesday at 7 p.m. inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center.

The Game
The Yotes are winners of their last 7-of-8 as well as riding a five-game win streak. USD has won all four matchups between the Bobcats. 

The Bobcats
Peru State sits at 12-10 overall and 11-6 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. Peru State got off to a rough start this season losing every other game to sit at 3-5 heading into the month of December. 

The Bobcats won their next five of their next seven games before hitting a two-game losing streak. In their previous two games, PSC defeated MidAmerica Nazarene 81-76 to earn a huge road victory of a top tier team in its conference. Three players finished in double figures with Nick Brannon recording a career-high 27 points on 11-of-15 shooting. 

In its game against Clark Pride, Peru State upset the Pride 83-70 while five players scored in double figures for the Bobcats. The Pride were receiving votes in the most recent NAIA Top-25 poll and snapped their six-game win streak. 

The Bobcats have four players that average in double figures led by Robinson with 17.2 points per game and Tanksley with 16.8 points per game. Colley chips in with 14.5 points while Brannon averages 10.7 points to round out the double-digit scoring. 

As a team, Peru State averages 78.50 points per game and allow 78.1 points. The Bobcats shoot 45.9 percent from the field and 67.8 percent from the line. PSC averages 8.9 3-pointers a game on 34.6 percent shooting from deep.

The Coyotes (16-8, 7-3 SL)
South Dakota enters on a five-game win streak after completing its road trip with wins over Denver and Omaha. 

The Yotes snapped a 16-game home win streak for the Mavericks that dated back to last season. Tyler Hagedorn leads the team with 19.4 points per game which ranks first in the Summit. Stanley Umude averages 16.4 points per game while Triston Simpson has chipped in with 11.9 points. 

Cody Kelley and Tyler Peterson rounds out the starting five that all average double figures. Kelley averages 10.8 points and Peterson averages 11.3 points. 

As a team, the Yotes average 78.8 points while shooting 48 percent from the field and 40 percent from deep. 

The Series
The Coyotes hold a 4-0 record all-time against the Bobcats with all four matchups coming in Vermillion. 

One Last Thing
Hagedorn earned his second Summit League Player of the Week award Monday after averaging 23.5 points and going an efficient 6-of-8 from deep in leading the Coyotes to two big road wins over Denver and Omaha last week.
