Coyotes enter championship ranked 17th in AP, 11th by coaches

WBB: AP/Coaches Poll

VERMILLION, S.D.—South Dakota women's basketball enters Tuesday's championship game ranked No. 17 in this weeks Associated Press poll and No. 11 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

South Dakota has set a Summit League record for weeks ranked in both polls with 11 weeks in the AP Poll and 15 weeks in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

South Dakota rolled Omaha 99-40 in the quarterfinals, setting a new program-high for points in a Summit League Tournament game. It was the fifth-highest by any team in the Summit Tournament. The Coyotes followed that up with a 65-43 win over Oral Roberts in yesterday's semifinals. South Dakota's stout defense held the Golden Eagles to just one field goal in a 25-5 second quarter.

The 2020 Summit League Player of the Year Ciara Duffy earned a spot on the Academic All-America first team on Monday and was named a finalist for the Becky Hammond Mid-Major Player of the Year on Tuesday. She's one of five Coyotes averaging double-figures in USD's two tournament games.

The Coyotes tip-off against the Jacks at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Summit League Championship.
