The Coyotes
South Dakota (4-1) wraps up the Nebraska MTE at the Huskers' home court. South Dakota is 2-0 in the home-site tournament with wins over Southern and Tennessee State last weekend. A trio of guards are leading the Coyotes with double-figure averages early this season. Third-year sophomore
Kruz Perrott-Hunt is averaging a team-best 14.4 points and 2.8 assists per game. Fourth-year junior
Xavier Fuller adds 12.8 points and six boards per game, while fourth-year junior
Mason Archambault pitches in 11.6 points a contest. All three guards have gotten to the line early this season, leading a Coyote team that ranks 17th nationally in free-throws made. Archambault is shooting a league-best 93.8 percent from the stripe.
The Huskers
Nebraska (4-2) has won three in a row entering Saturday's game. Summit League foe Western Illinois knocked off the Huskers in their season opener 75-74, while nearby Creighton was the team's other loss. Nebraska hosts its seventh-straight home game of the season. The duo of Bryce McGowens and Alonzo Verge Jr. are leading the Huskers with 17 and 15.3 points per game, respectively. The pair were recognized by CBS College Basketball Insider Jon Rothstein as impact freshmen and transfers to watch. McGowens is the first five-star recruit in Nebraska program history, while Verge is a transfer from Arizona State in his first season with the Huskers.
The Series
This marks the 39th meeting between the Huskers and the Coyotes. Nebraska holds a 32-6 advantage in the series. These two squads met a year ago in Lincoln, with the Huskers coming out on top 76-69 in that one.
Stanley Umude and
A.J. Plitzuweit combined for 49 of USD's 69 points, while five Huskers reached double figures.
One Last Thing
Saturday's game will determine the winner of the Nebraska MTE (multi-team event) as both South Dakota and Nebraska have swept the other opponents, Southern and Tennessee State.
