The Game
South Dakota hosts North Dakota State for a game at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center in Vermillion, S.D.
The game will be televised by Midco Sports with commentary from Jay Elsen and Al Bahe. That broadcast will also be available for streaming on espn+ and Midco Sports Plus. South Dakota (10-4, 3-0) enters 2022 riding an eight-game winning streak. The Coyote defense has held six of its last seven opponents under 60 points. The Coyotes are forcing nearly 19 turnovers per game and capitalizing with 18 points-off turnovers per contest. The quartet of

Kyah Watson are averaging double-figures at the start of league play. Korngable leads the Summit in total points scored (48) while shooting 60 percent from the floor. Seven players knocked down a 3-pointer on Thursday night with 12 of 13 scoring.
The Bison
North Dakota State (5-7, 1-1) is in year three under head coach Jory Collins. The Bison flip-flopped from the six seed in 2020 to the three seed in 2021 at the Summit League Tournament. North Dakota State returns most of its key pieces from a year ago, including preseason all-Summit pick Heaven Hamling. The junior has tallied double-figures in seven of her last eight games and is averaging a team-best 13.4 points per game. Ryan Cobbins is averaging 13.3 points and 5.8 boards per game to join her in double-figures.
The Series
North Dakota State continues to hold a 42-36 lead in the all-time series dating back to 1976. The Coyotes hold a 20-3 advantage since joining the Summit League. USD has won 11-straight, capped off by an 81-55 in the Summit League Tournament semifinal last March.
One Last Thing
This is just the third New Year's Day game in program history. South Dakota is 2-0 on January 1st.
