- This weekend is senior weekend for Stanley Umude the lone senior on the squad. He currently has the 12th most points in program history (1,408) heading into the weekend. With the NCAA granting a free year of eligibility to all winter sport athletes, he has the opportunity to return for another season.
- Plitzuweit recorded his second straight game of 30+ points and is one of two DI players to have scored 37 or more points twice in a game this season.
- South Dakota is in contention for the Summit League regular season title. If the Yotes were to finish in first, it would be the second regular season title for the men's squad since joining the Summit League.
- USD is one of six teams in Division I to have two players average over 18 points per game. Umude averages 20.4 while Plitzuweit averages 18.9 points per game.
- The Coyotes have not lost to a Summit team inside the SCSC this season and only have one loss to Drake on the season at home. Dating back to last season, the Yotes have won six straight league home wins.
ABOUT NORTH DAKOTA STATE
The Bison are 12-10 on the season and 10-4 in conference play. In their shortened non conference NDSU played the likes of Nevada, Nebraska, then No. 11 Creighton and then No. 7 Kansas and TCU. In conference play the Bison started 5-0 before an OT loss to UND. NDSU split with KC, ORU and SDSU on the season. The Bison along with SDSU, NDSU and USD are in the running for a regular season title this weekend. As a team, NDSU averages 68.3 points per game on 44.5 percent shooting from the field. They hold their opponents to 66.1 points per game on 43.1 percent shooting. The Bison rank second in points allowed and FG percentage defense. They are also one of the top rebounding teams in the conference and sit first in rebound margin (6.1). The Bison are led by Rocky Kreuser with 14.8 points per game and Sam Griesel with 11.5 poins per game. Tyree Eady rounds out the double digit scoring with 11.1 points. Kreuser hauls in 6.8 boards and has 15 blocks on the season.
SERIES HISTORY
The Bison and the Yotes first squared off in 1922- 23 where the Bison took the first matchup 30-16. Since then NDSU leads 99-81 all-time while the Yotes lead 47-36 all-time in Vermillion. The Bison have currently won the past three matchups including one this season at the Sanford Pentagon.
