Head tennis coach
Brett Barnett and assistant men's basketball coach
Casey Kasperbauer are featured in this week's YoteCast, the official podcast of South Dakota athletics hosted by John Thayer.
Â
Barnett offers a quick scan of his team and the challenges of travel during COVID-19 in working with a mostly international roster. He also talks about the program's use of the Archery Center in Yankton with the DakotaDome turf down, why he's forced to play meteorologist throughout the season, and what names to keep an ear out for throughout the course of the season.
Â
Kasperbauer is a 1,000-point scorer and the Coyotes' all-time leading free-throw shooter. He talks with Thayer about playing professionally inside the Republic of Georgia, his transition from player to director of operations to assistant coach, and what each of those responsibilities entails. He also takes us inside the USD-SDSU rivalry and discusses his best (and worst) memories about the series.
Â
But we start as we always do with Athletic Director
David Herbster who reflects on last week's volleyball and basketball series, the change in tailgating policies ahead of football season and his thoughts on this week's Showdown Series events. Plus, why are there no lights out at the tennis court, why are there no banners hanging inside the SCSC, and where is
Hunter Goodrick? He will tell you!
