Coyotes Get Through One Round Before Play Suspended

The South Dakota men's golf team completed one of three rounds Saturday at the Grandover Collegiate. The teams made it through 14 holes of round two before play was suspended at 6:15 p.m. ET due to darkness. Round two will resume tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. ET followed by the final round after the completion of round two. As a team, the Coyotes sit in 14th place after a 305 in round one. The team ended the day at three-over par before play was suspended.
 
South Dakota had four players shoot a four-over par 76 in round one. Max Schmidtke, Bryce Hammer, Ben Hicks, and Ryan Neff all posted the lowest scores for USD in round one. Schmidtke sank two birdies in the first round and is at two-over par with three holes remaining in round two. He added one more birdie to his total on the par-five 12th hole of round two. Hammer had three birdies in the first round including back-to-back birdies on holes five and six. He currently has one birdie in the second round and will begin tomorrow on hole eight. Hicks recorded a one-over par front nine in round one that included eight pars. He got on a roll before play was suspended today, carding a stretch of three straight birdies followed by an eagle on the par-five sixth hole. Hicks has four holes left in the second round and is a one-under par currently. Neff carded three birdies on the front nine of round one to pace his opening 18. He has since added one birdie to his total and will begin tomorrow at four-over with four holes to play.
 
Hunter Rebrovich recorded a five-over par 77 in round one with two birdies in the round. Rebrovich started round two with a birdie on his opening hole and got hot before the day ended. He carded five birdies within a six-hole span on the front nine with four consecutive birdies to begin the front. Rebrovich has three holes to play and is at one-under in his second round.
 
Nick LaMotte had three birdies on the day and scored an eight-over par 80 in the first round. He added one more birdie to his total after scoring a birdie on the par-four 17th hole in the second round. LaMotte has three holes to go in the second round and is at three-over par.
