Coyotes suffer 4-3 setback at ORU

WTEN: ORU 4, USD 3

Box Score TULSA, Okla. – South Dakota women's tennis suffered a 4-3 dual setback in Summit League play to Oral Roberts on Saturday at Bernis Duke Tennis Center.

The Coyotes (7-10 overall, 2-2 in Summit) couldn't muster enough momentum to pick up a big road victory.

Earning singles victories for South Dakota were Jana Lazarevic, Bea Havlickova and Natka Kmoskova.

Lazarevic, a fifth-year senior, won her sixth-straight singles match with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles. Lazarevic is now 6-1 on the season at No. 2 singles and 4-0 in Summit League play.

Havlickova, a freshman, earned a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles to move to 3-1 in Summit League play.

Kmoskova, a senior, triumphed 6-1 and 7-6 (7-0 in tiebreak) at No. 5 singles.

Oral Roberts pulled out the match with a tight three-set win at No. 1 singles as Sasha Nahuurska defeated South Dakota's Habiba Aly.

Lazarevic and Aly earned a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles, though the Coyotes couldn't pull out the doubles point to begin the match.

"It's always a tough match with ORU in Tulsa and of course it was again," coach Brett Barnett said. "They deserved the win as they played a little better than us when it mattered. We didn't lose because of any one player here, team effort always.

"We fought very well again and played well outdoors. We'll learn from this and we finally get some time off to rest, recover and hopefully get healthier for the stretch run."
