STILLWATER, Okla.—Seventh-year senior
Abby Ripperda closes her Coyote cross country career by leading South Dakota's women to an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional held at Greiner Family OSU Course.
Ripperda snuck into the final spot on the all-region team with a 25th-place finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional. She becomes the second Coyote to garner all-region honors twice in her career, previously making the all-region team in 2019. Ripperda crossed the finish line in 21:20.8 for 6,000 meters.
Freshman
Madison Brouwer was the Coyotes' second finisher for the third-straight meet. She took 32nd with a time of 21:27.2.
Fourth-year junior
Abrielle Jirele and fifth-year senior
Ella Byers were 51st and 63rd, respectively. Jirele clocked 21:45.6 and Byers was just behind in 21:56.5.
Fourth-year junior
Abbie Schmidt rounded out the scoring five with a season-best clocking of 22:40.7. She finished 118th in the field.
Freshman
Alexis Pagel and fifth-year senior
Haley Miller were the Coyotes' pushers. Pagel clocked 23:36.1 and Miller crossed the finish line in 23:48.6.
The Coyote women finished eighth in the team race with a total score of 289 points. Oklahoma State and Iowa State locked up the Midwest region's automatic qualifying spots for the NCAA Championships with 30 and 75 points, respectively.
South Dakota posted its fourth top-10 finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional in 11 seasons. The Coyotes' highest finish of fifth came in 2017.
Carson Lauterbach finished off a sophomore season of leading USD in every race. He took 147th in 33:21.3 for 10,000 meters. This was the Coyotes first race at the distance of the fall.

Mason Sindelar clocked 33:38.6 for 158th place and freshman
Piercze Marshall took 173rd in his first collegiate 10,000-meter race. Marshall clocked 34:09.8.
Freshman
Grant Dixon and sophomore
Seth Fey rounded out the men's scoring five. Dixon was 188th in 35:13.2 and Fey took 190th in 35:33.6.
The Coyotes finished 28th in the men's team race.
