California trip on deck for Coyote track and field

The Meet

South Dakota track and field travels to southern California for a series of meets held Thursday through Saturday. The trip is highlighted by the 63rd Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California, while athletes will also compete at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate in Long Beach, and the Beach Invitational in Long Beach.

The Coyotes

South Dakota is coming off its first home meet of the outdoor slate, where the Coyotes snagged 13 event titles. Coyote sprinters took advantage of breezy conditions, posting impressive (albeit wind-aided) marks in winning events. South Dakota swept the women's Summit League Peak Performer of the Week awards for the third-straight week. Junior Erin Kinney was the track weekly award winner after a 10.98-second performance in the 100 meters. Fourth-year junior Meredith Clark picked up the field award for the first time in her career, after launching the shot put an outdoor best 50-4 (15.34m) to take the lead in the Summit standings.
