Coyotes resume action at Nebraska

The Meet

South Dakota men's and women's track and field returns to action Saturday at Nebraska's Mark Colligan Memorial held at the Devaney Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. Field events begin at 10:45 a.m. with track events starting at noon.

The Coyotes

Weather delayed the Coyotes' return to action as Winter Storm Gerri made it unsafe to travel to Iowa last weekend. South Dakota hits the track for the first time since Dec. 1. The Coyotes opened up the indoor season with 12 event titles at the SDSU Holiday Open in Brookings.

USD swept all four Summit League Peak Performer of the Week honors following the meet. Junior sprinter Erin Kinney was the women's track honoree after clocking a then-nation leading 7.40 seconds in the 60 meters. Senior thrower Meredith Clark was the women's field honoree after winning the shot put, finishing runner-up in the discus and taking fifth in the weight throw. Sophomore sprinter Mark Daley won the 200 meters in 21.77 seconds to earn the men's track honors. Senior pole vaulter Marshall Faurot garnered the men's field honors by winning the pole vault in a league-best 16-10 ¾ (5.15m).

The Competition

The field is set to include host Nebraska, Colorado State, Sacramento State, Wichita State and the Coyotes.

Up Next

Indoor season continues in full swing as the Coyotes host the annual USD Alumni Meet on Jan. 26-27 on Mildred J. Hillenbrand Memorial Track inside the DakotaDome.
