COYOTES SET TO HOST SUMMIT LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Vermillion, S.D. — The University of South Dakota cross country teams are set to open their postseason slate this Saturday, November 2 with the hosting of the Summit League Championships at the Bluffs Golf Course in Vermillion.

The women's 6k race will start the day's competition off at 11 a.m. with the men's 8k race set to follow at noon (12 p.m.).
 
The races are set to be held at The Bluffs Golf Course with the layout of the course consisting of 1k and 2k loops. Linked at the top of the story is a map of the course.

2023 Championship Recap
The women's cross country team looks to defend their title and claim their second-straight conference title after winning the Summit League Cross Country Championships a season ago. Sophomore Madison Brouwer, sophomore Alexis Pagel, and sixth year Haley Miller are the only returners that will be racing on Saturday.
 
Madison Brouwer (So.) is the highest returner for the Yotes as she took fourth-place as a freshman last season and was named 2023 Newcomer of the Championship. Brouwer also made the All-Summit League First Team by completing the course with a time of 21:17.52.
 
Alexis Pagel (So.) finished 33rd with a time of 22:50.25 and Haley Miller (Sixth-year) took 48th in 23:29.65.
 
The men's team took fifth-place last season with a team score of 150 points. Carson Lauterbach (Jr.) and Piercze Marshall (So.) are the only two Coyotes returning for another postseason race.
 
Lauterbach paced the Yotes his sophomore year a year ago, finishing in 19th and clocking a time of 25:25.51.
 
Competing Teams
All Summit League teams will descend on Vermillion this weekend: Oral Roberts University, University of North Dakota, South Dakota State University, University of Missouri-Kansas City, North Dakota State University, and the University of St. Thomas.
