Vermillion, S.D. —South Dakota hosted the 2024 Summit League Cross Country Championships this morning, where the men clinched third and the women clinched fourth.
Freshman,
Natnael Kifle, paced the Coyotes through the men's 8k, finishing in 10
th place while putting up a time of 24:56.63.
Isaac Ochoa (Fr.) finished shortly after Kifle claiming 14
th place with a time of 25:04.67.
The Coyotes scored a low of 100 points as a team, putting them one point ahead of the University of North Dakota to award themselves with a third place finish.
Men's 8k:
The women's cross country team took fourth place by scoring a total of 95 points along with St. Thomas University who took third. The Yotes had three of their scoring five runner place within the top 20.
Madison Brouwer (So.) lead the Coyotes through the women's 6k, placing amongst the top 10 of 76 runners. Brouwer marked split times of a 3:25.40 1k, 10:28.89 3k, 17:42.19 5k – putting herself in a position to finish in sixth place overall with a time of 21:04.17.
Teammates,
Mariah Fenske (Fr.) and
Melanie Pankow (R-Jr.) placed 17
th and 20
th respectively. Fenske marked a time of 21:53.30 and Pankow finished in 22:03.00.
