The Coyotes

South Dakota (10-17, 3-9 Summit) is looking to bounce back from a tough weekend with two closes losses.

Senior transfer Bostyn Holt has strung together three-straight 20+ point scoring performances. He scored 27 points in South Dakota's overtime win over Denver in Vermillion on Feb. 8. He scored 22 points on 61.5 percent shooting at Omaha on Feb. 15 and 23 points on 64.3 percent shooting at St. Thomas on Feb. 17.

South Dakota shot 56.5 percent from the floor last weekend and 55.3 percent from three point range. At St. Thomas, the Coyotes went off from three point range in the first half, knocking down 11-of-14 three point attempts for a blistering 78.5 percent. The Yotes finished the game shooting 56.9 percent from the field and 61.1 percent from three.

The Roos
Kansas City (12-15, 6-6 Summit) is coming off two big wins over league-leading North Dakota and the second place Jackrabbits of SDSU.

The Roos snapped a seven-game win streak for the Fighting Hawks that started with a win over Kansas City nearly a month ago. Kansas City jumped out to an early lead that was held for the rest of the game and knocked down 11 threes en route to the victory.  The win knocked North Dakota out of sole possession of first place, giving SDSU the leading spot. Kansas City responded with a win over the Jacks on Saturday that knocked them right back out of the top spot.

Freshman Jayson Petty scored a career-high 21 points to help Kansas City defeat South Dakota the first time around earlier this season. Petty went 5-of-6 from the three point line and shot 72.7 percent from the field. Petty scored 17 points in the win over North Dakota on 60 percent shooting from the field.

Kansas City is one of the tougher defensive teams in the league. The Roos lead the league in blocks per game (4.1), rebound margin (4.0), scoring defense (70.3), and turnovers forced per game (12.4). Kansas City also leads the league in bench points per game (25.1) and scored 31 points off the bench against South Dakota on Jan. 27

The Series
Thursday's matchup marks the 18th meeting between South Dakota and Kansas City. The Roos won the first meeting earlier this season in Kansas City 81-57 to take a 9-8 advantage in the overall series.
