03.01.2024

The Game
The Coyotes will travel to Grand Forks to face North Dakota in the final game of the regular season Saturday.

Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. inside Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. The game will be streamed on the Summit League Network available via the Midco Sports Plus app. Fans can also tune into the game on the Coyote Sports Network with John Thayer on KVHT 106.3 FM in Yankton/Vermillion, KQSF 95.7 in Sioux Falls, or by using the Varsity Network app.

The Coyotes

South Dakota (12-18, 5-10 Summit) has two-straight wins under its belt after a big 88-68 win over North Dakota State in Vermillion on Thursday.

Senior Lahat Thioune scored a career-high 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to record his 12th double-double. Five Coyotes scored in double-figures to help South Dakota earn the win with its largest margin of victory since the 93-71 win over Waldorf on Nov. 28. Max Burchill went 5-of-6 from three-point range and scored 17 points as the Coyotes went 10-of-16 from behind the arc as a team. South Dakota also only had two turnovers, a season low.

Thioune leads the Summit in all four rebounding categories and his 12 double-doubles rank 26th nationally. He has four more double-doubles than any other Summit player.

The Fighting Hawks
North Dakota (17-13, 9-6 Summit) is looking to pick up a win and snap a two-game skid that bumped the Fighting Hawks out of first-place contention in the final league standings.

In the battle for first place, North Dakota fell to South Dakota State 72-62 in Grand Forks on Thursday night. B.J. Omot and Tyree Ihenacho each scored 14 points to lead the Fighting Hawks but the Jackrabbits knocked down nine second-half three-pointers to help secure the win and the regular season Summit League championship.

The Series
Saturday's matchup marks the 201st meeting between South Dakota and North Dakota. The Fighting Hawks own a 105-95 advantage over the Coyotes and won the first meeting earlier this season.
