South Dakota selected to Women’s National Invitation Tournament

VERMILLION, S.D.—South Dakota women's basketball was one of 48 teams selected to the 2024 Women's National Invitation Tournament on Sunday night.

South Dakota finished 21-12 under second-year head coach Kayla Karius. It marks the program's eighth 20-win season in the last decade. Junior guard Grace Larkins, a two-time all-Summit League first team selection, leads the Coyotes in scoring, rebounding and assists. She's averaging 16.3 points, 7.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game.

South Dakota makes its 13th postseason appearance in the last 14 years. The Coyotes are making their sixth appearance in the WNIT, boasting a 12-4 record in the tournament. USD took home the tournament trophy in 2016.

The Coyotes are one of four Summit League teams to advance to the postseason. The last time four teams from the Summit advanced to the postseason was in 2017.

The complete 48-team WNIT bracket will be announced late Monday afternoon. Matchups, times and locations will be announced with the bracket. Round one is set for March 20-22.

If a WNIT game is hosted in the Sanford Coyote Sports Center, basketball season ticket holders and Howling Pack members will receive first access to tickets. Season ticket holders will have access to their seats through their online accounts or by calling the ticket office at 605-677-5959. Howling Pack members will have access to all non-season ticket holder seats via an emailed promo code. All remaining tickets will be released to the public on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
