EUGENE, Ore.—South Dakota junior
Joe Lynch received honorable mention All-America recognition in the men's high jump Friday evening at the NCAA Championships held at Hayward Field.
Lynch, a native of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, finished in 21st place with a first-attempt make at the opening height of 6-9 ½ (2.07m). This marked his first appearance at the NCAA Championships, reaching the final after a personal best clearance of 7-1 ½ (2.17m) at the NCAA West Preliminary. He's a four-time all-Summit honoree and garnered a Summit League Championship title in the high jump outdoors last month. Lynch spent his freshman season at Dakota State where he placed 11th at the NAIA Championships.
Friday night wraps up the collegiate season for Coyote track and field. Select alumni and athletes will compete at the U.S. Olympic Trials held June 21-30 back at Hayward Field.
