INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — After receiving the Summit League Peak Performer of the Week and The Associated Press National Player of the Week, South Dakota senior guard headlines the U.S. Basketball Writer's Association's Ann Meyers Drysdale Players of the Week.
Larkins, a senior out of Altoona, Iowa, was named the Summit League Peak Performer of the Week for the second consecutive week on Monday, and now has two National honors added to her resume Tuesday. She averaged 39.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2.5 steals in a pair of South Dakota victories over St. Thomas and Omaha.
Larkins is joined on the by Zanai Barnett Gay (Navy), Stailee Heard (Oklahoma State), Liatu King (Notre Dame), and JuJu Watkins (USC).
The 45 points by Larkins against Omaha is the second most by a Division I player this season, and the third most by a Summit League player in conference history. Larkins now stands at fourth in the country in points per game (24.7) and is 18
th in assists (5.7), and 42
nd in rebounds (9.4). Her 445 points so far this season are the second most in Division I behind Arkansas' Izzy Higginbottom, who has scored 466 points.
This is Larkins' second National Player of the Week honor of the week. She has received the Summit League weekly honor three times this season and five times in her career.
