SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – One school record, three facility records, and four personal bests leads to three Coyotes receiving Kwik Star Summit League Peak Performer of the Week honors, announced by the Summit League office Tuesday afternoon.
Â
Mason Sindelar earned the Kwik Star Summit League Men's Outdoor Track Peak Performer of the Week honor.
Tre Young picked up the Kwik Star Summit League Men's Outdoor Field Peak Performer of the Week. On the women's side,
Averi Schmeichel won the Kwik Star Summit League Women's Outdoor Track Peak Performer of the Week.
Â
Sindelar claimed two personal bests, both of which were facility records, and one was a school record at the USD Tune Up Friday and Saturday in Vermillion. Sweeping the 1,500- and 800-meters at the USD Tune-Up, Sindelar broke the 1,500-meter Lillibridge Complex facility Friday, running a personal best 3:44.21. Not finished with a record-breaking weekend, Sindelar broke the school record with a run of 1:48.56 in the 800-meters, also setting the facility record.
Â
Sindelar ranks first in the Summit League in the 800-meters and third in the 1,500-meters. He ranks No. 41 in the NCAA West Region in the 800. He now owns both the indoor and outdoor 800-meter school records. He is also a school record holder in outdoor distance medley relay, set at the Drake Relays earlier this spring.
Â
This is Sindelar's first Summit League Peak Performer honor of his career.
Â
Young set a new personal best Saturday at the USD Tune Up, his third outdoor best of the season. Young cleared 17-10 ½ (5.45m) to win the men's pole vault competition. He leads the Summit League in the pole vault at that height. Young ranks No. 11 in the NCAA West Region and No. 18 in all of Division I.
Â
Young has two Summit League Peak Performer honors this spring, and third career weekly honor.
Â
Schmeichel broke 58 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles and swept the hurdle races at the USD Tune Up. Schmeichel's personal best of 57.98 in the 400 hurdles is a new Lillibridge Track Complex record, leading the Summit League and ranks No. 22 in the NCAA West Region. That time also places her No. 45 in Division I.
Â
Schmeichel also won the 100-meter hurdles Saturday, running 13.74. She placed sixth in the 200-meters running 24.65.
Â
This is Schmeichel's third outdoor weekly honor of the season and of her career.
