06.03.2025

VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota men's basketball head coach Eric Peterson has announced the signing of incoming freshman Jonah Funk to the 2025-26 recruiting class.

The 6'10 forward joins the Yotes from Metamora, Illinois where he played for the Metamora Redbirds. In his senior season with the Redbirds, Funk was named a unanimous First Team All-Mid-Illini Conference selection. Funk helped lead Metamora to a Mid-Illini Conference Championship and to the Class 3A Washington Sectional basketball title game.

Prior to transferring to Metamora, Funk was an all-state selection at El Paso-Gridley High School. In his junior season, he averaged 14.9 points, 10.9 rebounds and 3.2 blocks to earn the all-state nod.

Funk joins Vince Buzelis, Uzziah Buntyn and Jesse McIntosh to the incoming freshman class for head coach Eric Peterson.
