BROOKINGS, S.D. – In a scored meet Saturday at the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex, both the South Dakota men and women took the top spot in the team standings at the SDSU Jim Emmerich Alumni Meet in Brookings.

South Dakota, South Dakota State, North Dakota, St. Thomas, and Omaha were in attendance for the meet. South Dakota's men tallied 178 points, besting SDSU (156), St. Thomas (75), and UND (61). The women tallied 140 points, beating out the Jacks (100), Tommies (81), Fighting Hawks (45), and Mavericks (14).
TOP PERFORMERS
• The Coyotes swept the top collegiate men's and women's results in 5 events: long jump, high jump, pole vault, mile, and 60-meter hurdles.
•
Marleen Mülla and
Anna Willis both cleared 14-1 ¼ in the women's pole vault to be the top collegiate finishers. That height ranks 10
th in the NCAA this spring.
• South Dakota's
Alexus Sindelar and
Calia Chaney went 1-2 in the mile, running the fourth and fifth best times on the Coyote Indoor Top 10 list.
•
Delaney Smith took second (top collegiate finisher) in the weight throw with a season's best 65-0 ½ (19.82m). That mark ranks No. 30 in the NCAA this season.
•
Tristan Gray and
Brandon Vander Sluis took the top two spots in the shot put, with
Tristan Gray throwing a personal best 58-7 ½ (17.87m) for the title.
• Freshman
Kenya Harris cracked into the Coyote Top 10 in the triple jump (8
th) with a winning jump of 39-4 (11.99m).
•
Geneva Timmerman was the top attached finisher in the 3,000-meters with a time of 9:41.88, that time ranks sixth on the Coyote Indoor Top 10.
