PREVIEW: Coyotes set for competition at Mount Marty, Drake this week

The South Dakota track and field program will be competing at the Mount Marty Twilight and the Drake Relays this weekend.
 
HOW TO FOLLOW ALONG
Dakota Timing will provide live results of Wednesday's Mount Marty Twilight. The Drake Relays will have live results on PrimeTime Timing.
 
GETTING THE DRAKE RELAYS STARTED
 Indoor Pole Vault returned to the Jordan Creek Mall in Des Moines Monday night, and two former Coyotes were in competition.

Chris Nilsen placed third clearing 18-6 ½ (5.65m). Emily Grove cleared 14-11 (4.55m) to place fourth.
 
NATIONAL RANKINGS
The USFTCCCA weekly event squad rankings for the fourth checkpoint of the season has South Dakota with four men's event groups and two women's event groups in the top 50.
 
The men's pole vault squad is fifth in the NCAA. South Dakota's men's 110-meter hurdles and shot put both rank 17th in the NCAA. Lastly, the discus group is 29th in the NCAA so far this season. The Coyote women's pole vault group is 8th in the NCAA and the 400-meter hurdles is 22nd.

NCAA WEST LEADERS
The NCAA Outdoor Championships will be held in Eugene, Oregon, but to qualify, the Coyotes need to advance through the NCAA West First and Second Rounds that will be hosted in Fayetteville, Ark. at the end of May. Here are the Coyotes inside the top 48 in the West Region, which is the qualifying line.
