Played at Ottumwa High School where he earned first team all-conference honors and second team all-state honors in 2010 and 2011...was named the team MVP and earned a spot on the All-CIML Elite Team...lettered in basketball and track as he was a state qualifier in track for three years...passed 23 of 48 for 291 yards, two touchdowns to go along with 95 rushing attempts for 588 yards (6.2 avg) and 11 touchdowns as a senior...had 11 receptions for 282 yards (25.6 yds/catch) and four touchdowns...had 1278 total yards and 18 total touchdowns...for his career had 827 passing yards (six touchdowns), 1202 rushing yards (19 touchdowns), 299 receiving yards (four touchdowns)...2445 total yards (30 touchdowns) along with 163 tackles and six interceptions.
