South Dakota to Host Mount Marty Thursday; Northland College, Friday and Saturday afternoon at Prentis Park

Riding a five-game winning streak, South Dakota (10-5) will host Mount Marty (8-5) on Thursday at 3 p.m. in Prentis Park. The Coyotes and Lancers will hook up for a nine-inning game. Then, the Coyotes will host Northland College (Ashland, Wisc.) in a pair of doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday at 1/3 p.m. both days at Prentis Park. Northland College is 1-7 this season.

DEVINE LEADS HITTING ATTACK: Dean Devine (Seneca, Ill.), a transfer from Florida Atlantic, leads South Dakota with a .510 batting average. In 15 games, he has recorded a .776 slugging percentage and a .561 on-base percentage. He has 25 hits in 49 at bats with nine doubles and 10 runs batted in. He has seven steals in eight attempts. Newcomer Horace Lawrence (San Francisco, Calif.) is batting .457 with 16 hits in 35 at bats and has one home run and 11 RBI. He has a .629 slugging percentage. The Coyotes have four players batting more than .400 and 11 hitting over .300.

Senior Rob Miller (Rapid City, S.D.) has fashioned a 3-0 record, including a 4.82 ERA in seven appearances. He has two complete games with 22 strikeouts. In 18 2/3 innings, Miller has allowed 11 runs on 18 hits with eight walks. Both junior pitchers John Brunswold (Apple Valley, Minn.) and Albert Jones (Hercules, Calif.) have compiled 3-1 records. Brunswold has a 4.50 earned run average, allowing 32 hits and 20 runs in 32 innings. He has a team-high 39 strikeouts. Jones (3-1) has the team's only shutout, with a 1-0 decision over Missouri-Rolla on March 12. Jones, who has a 4.62 earned run average, has allowed 21 hits and 16 runs in 25 1/3 innings. He has 27 strikeouts.
