Veronika Makashov, a senior on the women's tennis team, is the subject of this week's South Dakota Spotlight. Makashov holds a 19-12 singles record while playing in the number 4 and 5 slot for the Coyotes, including a 4-1 record in Summit League play.

Hometown: Richmond Hill, Ontario

High school: Thornhill Secondary HS

Why USD?

I had a friend that played tennis here and she was really enjoying the experience.

Favorite USD memory?

Making it to the conference tournament this year (the first we are eligible). We are all very excited and it's a great accomplishment.

First job you ever had?

Working at a store in the mall.

Thing you love most about your team?

We are like a family. I think of the girls are my sisters and we always have each other's backs.

Something most people don't know about Coach Gilreath?

He loves to make jokes.
