Iowa State Classic Day 1 ResultsAMES, Iowa—South Dakota senior
Analisa Huschle placed third in the long jump at the Iowa State Classic to lead the Coyotes inside Lied Recreation Athletic Center on Friday.
Huschle jumped 19 feet even, her second-best mark this season behind a 19-6 performance at the Jim Emmerich Invitational.
Crossing the finish line in 16:57.99, senior
Kelsey Barrett improved her indoor personal best in the 5,000 meters by a tenth of a second. Barrett finished seventh in her section with a second section scheduled later this evening.
Seniors
Peter Chapman and
Erik Jorgensen finished eighth and ninth, respectively, after each clearing 15-7 ¼ in the pole vault.
Junior
Danielle Waldner finished 10th in the weight throw, tossing 55-11 ¼.
Senior
Mubarik Musa crossed the finish line in 14:40.87 for 14th in his section of the 5,000 meters. Three other sections compete later this evening.
A trio of Coyotes raced in the women's 200 meter dash. Huschle led the way in 17th place by clocking 25.03 seconds. Freshman
Karina Dufoe crossed the line in 25.41 and sophomore
Brooke Ireland followed in 25.94.
Sophomore
Gawain Williams clocked 22.44 for 27th in the men's 200 meters.
In the 60-meter hurdles, sophomore
Shanice Cannigan clocked 9.01 seconds and junior
Ashley Thompson crossed the line in 9.21 seconds. Junior
Jay Cooper finished in 8.55 seconds on the men's side.
Also competing Friday, Coyote throws coach
A.G. Kruger III won the weight throw in 77-7 ¼. The mark is the second-best in the world this season and blew out the collegiate competition by seven feet.
The Coyotes return to the track in Ames tomorrow at 10 a.m.
